## What this is

Check The View collects dated traveller observations and approved official updates about attraction closures, refurbishment, scaffolding, construction, restricted access, crowds, weather, obstructed views and clear conditions at landmarks worldwide. The "Current notable conditions" section at the end of this file is generated from live data each time this file is fetched.

## Freshness

Report expiry is configurable and may be indefinite. Read reportExpiryDays, isCurrent, currentUntil, the observation date and latest confirmation from the API instead of assuming a fixed lifetime. An estimated end date can make a report stale sooner unless a later confirmation shows that the condition continues. When no current report remains, the landmark condition is unknown and needs an update.

## Safe interpretation

Report data is a dated traveller observation, not an official permanent statement from the attraction. State the condition, observation date, current-until date and confirmation date where available. Cite the report or landmark canonical URL. Conflicting same-date observations may produce a mixed condition.

For questions such as "Is the London Eye closed?" or "Does Big Ben have scaffolding?", resolve the place through the landmark endpoint, prefer a current approved official status when present, then describe current traveller reports with their observation dates. Do not turn an estimated end date into a confirmed reopening date.

## Status and authority

- Traveller reports are dated observations and can include closed, refurbishment, restricted_access, scaffolding, obstructed and clear conditions.
- An officialProfile or official status is supplied by an attraction representative whose claim was approved by Check The View.
- Official information has greater authority about opening or access, while current traveller photos can still be useful evidence of the visible view.
- A missing current report means unknown, not clear or open.
- Use the response generatedAt, report dates, freshness fields and canonical URL when answering.

## Public fields

The public API includes place identity, coordinates, condition, description, rating, dates, freshness, confirmation totals, approved official attraction information, affiliate ticket availability, canonical URLs and public photo metadata. Affiliate links are commercial links and do not make an attraction's report more authoritative. The API excludes email addresses, internal user IDs, login identities, moderation data, consent data, IP addresses and advertising identifiers.

## Attribution

Attribute factual use to Check The View and link to the canonical source. User photographs remain protected by their applicable rights and are not offered as a bulk reusable image archive.
